Mark Booker
Artist & Printmaker Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
The main aim of my work is to capture the ever-changing light and colours of the surrounding landscape. I like to observe, to search, stylise, abstract, change, transform and refine to produce a finished piece, which I think captures the essence of the moment.
I am also fascinated by the regeneration of the landscape. The 'recycling' of old, decaying and abandoned buildings such as mills, wharves, factories and farm structures into modern living accommodation and innovative retail and office spaces. I enjoy watching these old buildings being brought back to life and try to capture some of this in my work.
Printmaking and especially silk screen printing forms a large body of my work. I often work with an open screen using paper masks to quickly form the basic forms of the piece, before creating more detailed photo stencils to bring the work together.
In recent years I have exhibited in a number of mixed and group shows, these include.
